A new restaurant on Lake Mahopac opened last week - the TERRACE club . I just got their menu tonight. I'll post it on www.mahopacrestaurants.com

This restaurant is right on the lake. It should have good crowds during the summer!

We went there and were very impressed. The food was great. I had braised short ribs over polenta. It was really good and something you won't find in too many other local restaurants.

I have been to the Terrace Club three times. The food is excellent, however the wait staff is not. Last time I was there I watched a couple who had been sitting for 20 minutes and had asked for a waiter twice, just get up and leave. That's not the first time I saw that either. My first time there we sat for 15 minutes without a drink, menu, or anything else. I went inside and asked the manager for a waiter. She apologized and then when the waiter finally came he forgot my appetizer and brought my dinner. Not once did the owner/manager come over to see if things were going more smoothly. The second time other diners who had come after us were already eating and when we brought this to our waitress's attention she apologized but still could not manage to get us some bread/popcorn.

There are plenty of wait staff, the problem seems to be that they are not trained properly and don't seem to get it that time is of the essence to make the patrons feel comfortable. Yesterday, our waitress said "thank you for coming" as soon as we sat down, this was an improvement. There was another woman who said she was also an owner there (Sunday 8/9) and I hope she can make a difference in the attitude of the wait staff. The food is very good, as is the ambiance. This is why we keep coming back, but that will end soon if the other problems are not ironed out.

I stopped at the Terrace club last night for a few drinks with my friend last night. They have a great outside bar right on the water. Very casual with a very nice bartender (Rocco).
