Please post menu/description/review for new restaurant Russo's italian and sports bar. It is located where Teasers used to be and I believe that it has just opened recently.
I stopped by last night. The staff was very friendly. It's an interesting setup. Half bar, half pizza place. There were plenty of televisions to keep an eye on. It was tempting to sit at the bar, have a beer and watch the Yankee game with my slice. But I was with my son and we stayed away from the bar. The slices were huge, we didn't leave hungry! My son had a slice with chicken and fresh tomatoes which he enjoyed, I had a plain slice that was okay and a slice with fresh tomatoes which was good.
Russo's has been a nice place to take the family. We have noticed people sitting at the bar, but not a "bar crowd" per se. The food is basic, American Italian, like you would expect at a pizza joint, but reliably delicious and satisfying. I like their sausage parmigiana over spaghetti. They serve wine by the glass. I do not suspect that it comes from a box or gallon, but rather a magnum from a decent producer. The atmosphere is very casual, what with the TVs and all, but it does not feel like a sports bar to me. The staff is attentive and friendly. One can relax without loud music in the background. All in all, a good experience for basic, casual supper. I would say that they should provide higher level specials and offer a couple bottle wine selections or by the carafe.
